Rhinoplasty - Hispanic Case #13137
Before
After
This man who has developed a saddle-nose deformity after sustaining a traumatic injury to his nose. A Saddle-nose deformity results from the collapse of the nasal bridge due to loss of cartilage support, therefore resulting in a dent or “saddle” on the nose. His facial CT Scan shows complete crush and collapse of his nasal bone structures. He consulted with Dr. Sean Younai, who is a Board-Certified Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon for performing a revision nose surgery or rhinoplasty. Dr. Younai harvested a cartilage graft from one of his ribs and reconstructed his nasal dorsum (bridge) framework. This cartilage was first shaped and molded to construct a proper nasal framework. It was then inserted and secured in his nose. At the same time his nasal airway was opened so he could breathe better. Even though he still has swelling and inflammation after nasal reconstruction surgery, he is very grateful for having achieved a straight nose and shaped to correct the previous nasal deformity. His nasal septal fracture was also repaired in order to enable him to breathe normally through his nose.
